Car Accidents in Fort Lauderdale During Coronavirus

Car Accidents in Fort Lauderdale During Coronavirus

If you’re living under a rock or just woke up from a coma, you may have not known, but the coronavirus is really hitting the world hard. Not just in terms of deaths but also economically. Because of the negative times that could come if we prolong the quarantine that is basically nationwide, it has become everyone’s duty to uphold the safety guidelines that were provided by our government.

Obviously we can’t just always be home all day. Sometimes maybe you just need to go for a walk or maybe you are an essential worker. Point is that you may want to be on the road and just breathe some fresh air or you have to be on the road to get to work.

But in general, everyone should be mostly home and staying home. It is a good time to do things that you always wanted to do that required your time. You could start the blog you wanted or learn to invest money in stocks, or even just take it easy and treat this quarantine as a break. No need to be pressured to think that you need to be super-productive during this break. It is just fine to recharge your batteries so that you are ready for work when the quarantine ends.

But if there are supposed to be people at home, how come there are car accidents?

In fact, just last week I saw three car accidents in one week on the same road. Each accident happened on a different day, but it was shocking.

So if you get in a car accident during quarantine, what’s the next step?

Contacting The Right People

The best thing you can do is follow the regular procedures. If this is actually your first car accident, look further. Here we will highlight the steps to follow after you get in a car accident.

  • Take photos of the scene. Take as many pictures not only of the damage to your car, but the damage to their car and also the general environment. Was it at an intersection? Was it at a corner? All these questions need to be answered.
  • Call the police. During any scenario, calling the police is a good idea. If there is damage to your car or even to your body, calling the police is the best idea since they will be able to give you a preliminary as to whose fault the accident was according to your stories. This will actually prove critical when insurance companies ask about the accident.
  • Call the insurance company. Call your insurance company and report the accident. They will be able to help you get assistance and start the repair process. If you have bodily damages or it looks like the car might be totaled, then it is probably a better idea to just tell your insurance company the story and hold off on immediately accepting the repair help. If it is deemed that it is the other party’s fault and your medical bills and repair bills exceed the numbers, you could be entitled to more and just filing it under your insurance could hurt you.
  • Get the contact info of the other driver. More than likely you won’t have to deal with the other driver since the insurance company will be doing that for you. If anything you will be talking to the insurance company of the other driver.
